Christmas takes over the north London neighbourhood this year from November 9...

For this festive season, King's Cross is adding an alpine après-ski theme to Christmas festivities.

Taking inspiration from alpine slopes and ski chalets, the neighbourhood will transform into an illuminated, traffic-free wonderland for all to enjoy.

Christmas and King's Cross runs from Wednesday, November 9 until Sunday, February 26, and comes with a stack of fun things to do with friends and family.

Club Curling returns, where teams of up to six can slide and sweep and jostle along the ice, from 12pm to 8pm from every day (£7).

A huge 35 foot Christmas tree takes hero position in Coal Drops Yard, covered in ski accessories (ornamental ones, I assume) and lit up with bold neon lights to conjure up Swiss mountain-scapes.

Once the festive season is over, the tree's needles will be diffused down to create alpine essence for candles, which will then go on sale in Coal Drops yard.

Temenos, a geometric winter sculpture by artist Liliane Lijn will return too. The immersive installation stands 11 metres tall and is made with 19 neon yellow and orange poles. Find it in Cubitt Square.

Watch out for the Granary Square winter installation this November too, with more details on this soon to be announced.

Visitors can relax at the après ski bar, which will serve up festive hot chocolates, hot toddies, and alpine cocktails.

On top of this, King's Cross host a festive takeover of its markets from November 4 to December 22, with a changing line up of food, arts, craft, and fashion.

Christmas at King’s Cross launches on Wednesday, November 9 running until Sunday February 26 2023. For more information, please visit kingscross.co.uk
